Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick

Haven’t posted in some days, but that’s because I’ve been sick and had university and related stuff to take care of. I’m still sick though…cough sirup is not helping at all… Anyways, I got the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick from Stadtparfümerie Pieper to try out, which I was very happy about. Now because it’s a german store I will make this entry in german for once. The translation I give is in no way identical to the stuff I write in german, I am way to lazy to translate it directly haha
As I said I got the Shimmer Brick to try out and was very happy about that because usually it would be a bit too expensive “just” to try out for about 50 €. I even got the shade “rose” which I like most when it comes to blush and highlighter! The Shimmer Brick can also be used as an eyeshadow but I only review it as a blush. The packaging from the store with the message was also very cute.
I was surprised by the size of the Shimmer Brick, it almost looks like a powder. Everything is high quality, even with an extra mirror. It is easy to open and close without breaking any nails.
The colors are best represented in this picture: beginning with a white, then some latte-like shades and in the end two pink-rose shades. All of the colors have shimmery particles in them. ach color can be used as eyeshadow.
The swatch shows a slightly weak color, but I like it this way because as opposed to other blushes that are either too intense or very patchy and irregular the Shimmer Brick is very build-able. The color seems to go a lot into the latte direction, with a slight pinkish shade.
I like the shimmer it gives me and the slightly brownish color, too. It’s great that the Shimmer Brick is a blush with highlighting effects. I am very satisfied but I still think that the price is a bit much, though you get a lot of product out of it and it is also possible to use it as an eyeshadow. I am very happy I got to try this out! Thanks to Pieper for this!

MaxFactor 2000 Calorie Mascara

I bought the MaxFactor 2000 Calorie Mascara in a bundle together with the waterproof version, which was for free if you buy the regular one, so it cost me only 8 €!
I wanted to try this out for some time so I was happy to have two for the price of one! The brush is pretty standard, good old fashioned, not one of those brushes with hard plastic fibres you get nowadays. I applied one coat of mascara with the regular 2000 calories and thought it look ok, some volume, some length, but what I really liked was when I layered it with a second coat from the waterproof version! Here’s the result:
It’s pretty impressive I think, the 200 calorie mascara also works good with my lower lashes! Not perfect but pretty good. The lashes actually look more neat than on this picture, the mascara is good at separating the lashes! Ok here’s another close-up of one eye:
I am very happy with the result, but because there are so many mascara at the moment, I don’t know whether I’ll keep buying this one or maybe try out another new one. Nevertheless I like this mascara!

Essie Nail Polish

There’s a huge hype going on about Essie Nail Polish and although I am not thaaaat into nail polish I wanted to try it out. To me usually the color is the most important thing when it comes to nail polish, I just love cute pastels! That’s why I bought Sugar Daddy and Go Ginza, each 7 €, which I already find pricey for nail polish.
I was a bit disappointed with Sugar Daddy because it turned out just to be a clear french-manicure-type of nail polish, too bad I didn’t know that! It’s honestly just very clear. Go Ginza on the other hand is super pretty:
I love pastel purple and this looks slightly pink even, just perfect! The application was ok, nothing groundbreaking, need two coats for it to look nice! It dries reasonably fast. Only problem is that it already started to vanish on the third-fourth day, well just at the top, probably because I just do a lot like washing dishes were this just happens! I am satisfied with Go Ginza but I’m not sure whether I will be buying more Essie nail polish because there are cheaper alternatives, I’ll probably be just looking for dupes of certain shades!

Make-up Look: Only Korean Brand

I wanted to do something fun and try out all korean make up products I have at once, basically creating my typical make-up-look with korean brands only! This is what I used:
1. Tony Moly Party Love Shine Blusher, in Sweety Peach (from what I made out of the hangul on the package, bought this in china!), this is one of my favourite blushers ever, it’s veryyyyy strong and pink, I have to watch out when applying! Has some glitter in it.
2. Etude House Bee Happy! Lip Balm, in Baby Bee - Refreshing Lemon, it has no color or taste but smells like a lime tart, very moisturizing for the lips!
3. Holika Holika Jewel-light Waterproof Eyeliner, in 5 Brown Amber, it’s soft and has a nice color but I can’t say it’s actually waterproof…
4. Holika Holika Magic Pole Mascara, I love this mascara! It’s one of those mascaras with a ball at the end of the plastic brush, not waterproof. It’s even good for wearing solo because of the effect it gives, very long and defined lashes with a bit of volume! Also the packaging started to disintegrate haha
5. Missha Signature Real Complete BB Cream, Light probably, now despite having tons of different korean BB creams I wanted to try something new, so I tried out a sample I once got! I must say it is really really good, fits my skintone, covers very good and still looks pretty natural!
6. Tony Moly Cats Wink Powder, 01, I already showed this on my blog, love it!
7. Skin79 Star Glow Ball Powder, used a little bit of this to soften my extreme blush!
This is how it came out:
So this is more my everyday make up than a “make-up-look”. As I already mentioned I usually go for the natural look, that means I almost never wear eyeshadow except for something glittery or slightly pink. That leaves me time and money to focus on good foundations and powders, which I think are more important. And of course mascara, can’t ever get enough of that. It would be great to see other bloggers only using their korean brand make up to create a look!

Barry M Lip Stick & Gloss

Remember my Sleek & Barry M Haul? Well now I feel like I tried out the Barry M lip products enough to write a quick review! I bought the Barry M Lip Paint Nr. 101 Marshmallow and the Lipgloss Nr.12 Strawberry Milkshake, both about 5 €!

The packaging is precious in my eyes, I love pastel pink and black! Now the Lip Stick is very light but not only nude but also light pink at the same time, which kinda surprised me because I expected it more nude-beige!
The colors actually look alike in my eyes, it’s as if the lip gloss is just the same color in gloss form. As you can see both are very pale shades and as I expected they are very difficult with my lips. I don’t even have a good pic of me wearing those solo because it didn’t work at all, the lip stick just looks like white-pink flakes on my lips, just as the gloss, only that the gloss is more watery… So they are just sitting around in flakes on my lips because it is honestly impossible to apply it for me evenly. Maybe because the shade is so light, maybe even the texture, but I felt kinda disappointed. In the end I just combined both, first applying the gloss and then the lip stick over it. That’s the result:
Well it looks nice on the pic in my opinion, my problem is, it doesn’t stay this way. The moment I do ANYTHING like speaking, eating, drinking, it’s gone, no wait, it’s smeared in pink flakes all over my lips. Too bad, both looked promising but I won’t buy it again!

Ebay Haul

Some new products I got from ebay from the US! Not everything will receive a separate review:
Carmex Soothing Lip Balm Cherry, 2 $, I already love it! It is very moisturizing and makes my lips so soft!
Nivea Lip Butter Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss, 5 $, I bought it because I read reviews and really like macadamia! It smells delicious!!
Maybelline Color Whisper Lip Butter #25 Lust for Blush, 10 $, will make a review about it!
Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara, 8 $, will review it because I absolutely love it (especially since I can layer this mascara with everything without it clumping!).
Bath & Body Works Pocket Bac Winter Candy Apple & Candy Cane Bliss, 5 $, another addition to my PocketBac collection, unfortunately the fragrances are not that good. The Winter Candy Apple just smells like Apple and the Candy Cane Bliss is just minty without smelling sugary.

MAC Paint Pots

From a Douglas Haul some time ago I got this wonderful little thing: the MAC Paint Pot in Painterly! It cost me 20 € for 5 g and at first I was skeptical about paying such a high sum of money for a mere eyeshadow that is actually my skin color. But it is actually more!
It is also an eyeshadow base, and a damn good one at that! It has a creamy texture that melts perfectly on my skin, doesn’t feel too heavy but it lasts so so long! I sometimes just use it bare as an eyeshadow for very natural looks to make my eyes pop and look more awake! Here’s a comparison pic:
Needless to say that it makes eyeshadows of all kind more intense and long-lasting. But I really really like the bare eyeshadow, too, how smooth it looks on my lid and everything AND it is totally non-creasing. Too me the difference is big because I like a matt finish that makes my eyes look fresh! A very good investment!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

After having reviewed the Clinique Chubby Stick and the Isadora Gloss Stick here and here, it is finally time to review my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain! I bought 2 shades,Precious and Sweetheart! They cost me about 6 € each! A lot cheaper than the other two alternatives.
Both swatches reveal that the Balm Stick is a lot sheerer than I expected! I thought that because of the combination of stain & balm it would be stronger in its color. Anyway first of I already now that I won’t like Sweetheart on me as much, it’s way too pink (I don’t know what I thought when I saw swatches of it haha). But most important is probably how it looks on me:
I love Precious!! It’s nude without looking to fake and creamy like most nude lipsticks. Sweetheart is ok I guess but I really have to be in the mood for a color like this. I have to reapply pretty soon with Precious though because it’s so light and the stain isn’t really strong. Sweetheart on the other hand stays on me for quite a while, especially since the stain itself is really strong, so at least 2 hours without re-application (which is a lot for me).
All in all I have to say that the Revlon Balm Sticks are fun and reasonably priced, I will maybe get more shades!

TAG Daily Life

I got tagged by Einzelkind (http://zimtkringel.blogspot.de) today for the topic “daily life” (or Alltag in german). Thanks for tagging dear! So here are the questions and answers (which Einzelkind also already conveniently translated into english):
1.)What your favorite food from your country/city?

If from my country Russia than it would be Schi, a traditional soup. If from Germany than it would be Linseneintopf, “lentil stew”.

2.)Drive by car or public transport?
I have to take the bus because I have no drivers licence and I love sitting there and listening music but I still prefer car…

3.)On the week-end:Beeing a couch potato or go clubbing?

Couch potato all the way. I only want to go out about 2 times a month. I love being lazy and just eating and watching tv.
4.)If you had 1000€ would you buy make up or go on a luxury vacation?

I have enough make-up so I would go on vacation!

5.)Would you rather abstain from foundation or mascara?
From mascara, because I absolutely need foundation.

6.)You need to give up your cosmetic collection.Just 2 things survive.Which ones?

My Diroskin Nude BB creme and Clinique Almost Make-up Powder, although this would be a tragedy to me…

7.)Do you prefer high-end cosmetics or drugstore cosmetics?

I get disappointed less with drugstore make-up because I invest less but I love having a high class product, can’t decide!
8.)Du you prefer open hair or ponytail?

I alway have it open.

9.)Wear you make up while doing sports?

I almost always wear make-up, it would be less though.
10.)Is your flat proper or chaotic?

Unfortunately I have to admit that I am extremely chaotic and have to clean daily to maintain the chaos at least a little…

11.)Do you prefer to order your things online or do you prefer to take a walk trough the city?
Both are different shopping experiences but right now I prefer returning home with a bag full of new things after a nice afternoon in the city!

12.)Would you borrow your cosmetics to friends?
Not the most expensive products that I use myself currently, but generally yes!

13.)Could you rather abstain from cosmetics or sweets?

Sweets, but it would be tough!

14.)Do you like karaoke or would it be displeasing to you?
I love it, went there while in China and it was awesome! I can’t sing though.

15.)Are you a lone wolf or a family person?
Family person definitely, unfortunately I don’t have so much time for my family right now because of university!

I’m tagging:

DKNY Sweet Delicious Creamy Meringue

I already posted about my limited edition DKNY Sweet Delicious Pink Macaron here, but now I finally have the Creamy Meringue, too!!
According to fragrantica it smells like custard, lime, some sweet notes and a little bitbergamot and musk! My own experience is that it really smells lemony, but not in a super fruity but more sweet way, I can smell the custard, too! Unfortunately it sits very close to my skin unless I spray it all over me, which wouldn’t be wise because I only have 50 ml! It stays on me only for about 2-3 hours, which is definitely less than the Pink Macaron (which also has a stronger sillage to me!). I still love it dearly but because I expected it to be like that…

Sleek & Barry M Haul

I already reviewed the Sleek Make Up Blush here! But I also bought other Sleek and Barry M products on shades of pink online!
I have a Sleek New Skin Revive Tester Kit in light shades, 4 €
Barry M - Lip Paint Nr. 101 Marshmallow, about 5 €
Barry M Lipgloss - Nr.12 Strawberry Milkshake, about 5 €
Barry M Mascara in Electric Purple, 5 €
The Sleek Make Up Blush in Rose Gold, 5 €
Sleek Dip EyeLiner in Pink, 5 €
I haven’t tried everything but I can already say that the mascara is good for nothing, you can’t even see the purple color! I made pictures but it looked black. Very dissapointed about that.
The tester kit for the Sleek Foundation revealed the following:
So there are altogether 5 light shades: Linen, Oyster, Oatmeal, White Rose and Shell! I already new that Linen would be too light but I wasn’t sure whether Oatmeal or Oyster suited my skin better, so I got the tester kit! The great thing is that the small tubes can be reused, very cute idea. So you don’t have to use everything all up once you opened the tube!
Linen is pale white with a very slight yellow undertone, Oyster is more pink than I expected and Oatmeal pretty much neutral in it’s undertones and therefor fits my skin best. White Rose is too rosy of course and Shell has too many yellow undertones! I have to say I tried all of them on my face and they all have the ability to blend in with my skin tone BUT Linen has a horrible texture in comparison to the other ones. I’m still not sure whether to get the foundation at all because I already have so many and this one is not particularly good at covering….(currently using Diorskin Nude and Shiseido Maquillage!).

MeMeMe Little Angels Collection

I love my Benefit Cheek & Lip Tint “Benetint”, but I think that the price is a little much, so I was searching for an alternative and found MeMeMe Cheek & Lip Tintsand bought a whole set for just 20 €! The set not only includes a Benetint-like tint but also 2 highlighter and a rosy tint, each 12 ml!
The Cherub’s Blush tint looks just like Benetint!
Beat the Blues Oyster Gold is a gold shimmering highlighter.
Beat the Blues Pearl Pink is a white shimmering highlighter.
Cupid’s Kiss is a rosy pink tint.
First of I have to say that the tint’s brush is just sub-par quality! It’s not soft but very hard plastic and therefore more difficult to apply very unlike the Benetint brush!
I’ll have to say that the Cherub’s Blush is nowhere near as good as the Benetint, I’ll have to post a comparison pic for that soon! It’s honestly more difficult to blend and apply and doesn’t set well because it dries too fast. The highlighters are not really visible on me and the only thing left is the Cupid’s Kiss, which I love color-wise but the texture is horrible. It’s thicker than the other tints and doesn’t set at all, which gives you time to blend but I had to wait very long for it to dry. I’m not satisfied even though it was not expensive, I expected more of it! Definitely a pretty collection but definitely useless to me.

Sleek Make Up Blush

I only recently discovered the brand Sleek, they have a great selection for everything and very reasonable prices! I got this Sleek Make Up Blush in Rose Gold for only 5 € on shades of pink. I love pink and gold as a combination:
The packaging is actually of really good quality, a classy black case with an included mirror! The clasp is very firm, which I like, because lose cases usually open…inside my bag…Right from the start I was totally in awe because the color is so nice and shimmery with gold, exactly how I wanted it!
I never expected such a cheap blush to be so highly pigmented! It’s wonderful, you don’t even need much for the application, I just brush over lightly with a blush brush and that’s it! It’s probably the best blush I ever used…
Here you can see the gold shimmer better, I applied it generously but only needed little product! I will definitely try out the other Sleek blushes as well, you just can’t beat it at that price and THAT performance! Love love love!

Review: Skink79 BB creams

Today I’ll make a small comparison of the skin79 BB creams that I have! I bought a set of small tubes a long time ago to find out which is the best of all!
From left to right:
Super BB creme Triple Functions
The Oriental BB Cream
Diamond Collection Pearl BB Cream
Super BB creme Gold
Diamond Collection The Prestige BB Cream
All of them have SPF 25, have wrinkle improvement and are whitening! The biggest difference are the shades! You’ll see it here in the swatch:
From the first look it is clear that the Pearl BB cream is the lightest! The pink Triple Functions and Gold are the same, both pretty dark in comparison and Oriental and Prestige are about the same, with Prestige being just a little bit lighter.
The coverage from the pink Triple Functions is just as good as the others, except for Pearl, which doesn’t cover anything for me AT ALL. Pearl is mostly illuminating and has lots of glitter particles. It’s honestly only for a special look, or if your skin is super perfect and you just want an extra glow and shine.
I have to say that because of the shade the Oriental and Prestige are my favorites. The Oriental is actually lighter on my skin because it has stronger whitening features! The Prestige seem to darken a bit after application, but not that much.
Gold and Triple Functions are basically the same to me, pretty good BB creams but the shade is not perfect on me and my skin gets really greasy after 2-3 hours of wear…but no breakouts! It’s always a good idea to buy small samples of as many BB creams as possible to find a perfect one! Even though I love the Oriental most, I don’t see me loving it as much as Diroskin Nude because it feels a bit heavier (nothing is as light as Diroskin Nude).

Isadora Gloss Stick

Now I already reviewed the Isadora Gloss Stick before when I compared it to the Clinique Chubby Stick here, but I wanted to try another color (even though there are only 4 shades altogether). Again it was 12 €, this time I picked the color 07 Coral Cocktail.
I love coral shades, they suit everybody! Again the Gloss Stick is just as sheer as the regular Glossy Sticks, which is ok I guess as long as it has moisture and looks good on the lips.
I have to say that I’m a bit disappointed because I hoped this shade wouldn’t turn out so flakey on my lips…maybe my lips are the problem? It does give moisture but not as much as the Cubby Stick. What I find extremely strange is that this coral shade looks really pink on my lips! I looked again after half an hour and it was even more pink…it really has a strange effect on my lips and to be honest I have to reapply after an hour or so. I’d rather buy another Chubby Stick because I’m afraid all Gloss Sticks are this flakey on my lips!

Review: Lavera Lip Balm

I bought some Lavera products some time ago only to realize that I don’t like the brand at all…I bought 2 lip balms and a cleansing gel.
Both Lip Balms were about 4 €, twice as my Labello Lip Balms which I adore. I bought the Raspberry and the Soft Bronze Lip Balm. Never in my life have I been this disappointed with Lip Balms. Or any product for that matter! The packaging is super cheap because the balm it salves dangles around in the plastic and is not stabilized or anything. And the worst? They are both soooo dry, as if they have been lying around for ages somewhere! No moisture no color no anything. They are so difficult to apply, as if you are rubbing a plastic lip-stick over your lips! The only positive thing is the raspberry smell from the Raspberry Lip Balm. I can’t say anything about the cleansing gel though. I will probably not buy from this brand anymore….

Review: Dior Diorskin Nude BB Creme

I planned this post a while ago but wanted to test the product a little bit longer! This is myDiorskin Nude BB creme in 001 light which I bought for about 40 € in Douglas (30 ml). I knew that Dior already had another BB crème, the Hydra Life BB creme, but I wasn’t interested back then. This one though caught my interest through reviews and swatches because I am looking for slightly pink undertones and a very light shade!
The packaging is not as high quality as it could be, but at least they made it with a pump-mechanism for easy portioning. On the other hand I’m afraid that there will be lots of product left in the tube that I will only get out by cutting the tube open…It has SPF 10 but I’m not interested in SPF haha Anyways, here’s a swatch:
I love that it’s so so light and really has pink undertones, the smell is very faint, which is good because it is so neutral, only slightly perfumed! It blends freakishly easy, almost melts into my skin! By now I was already convinced but what I liked more was the effect on my face!
There is not that much to cover these days, aside from my dark eye-circles and evening out the complexion generally. My face looks kinda photoshopped afterwards because it is just so soft without giving a make-upy look! Most people complain about the low coverage of the Diroskin Nude BB creme but I think it is just right, if it was more covering it would not have this light texture that makes your skin feel like you’re not wearing foundation at all! The shade fits my skin perfectly, I don't have to blend anything on my neck. It stays on me for the whole day without turning greasy (no idea how that is possible!). I love it. If it wasn’t for the price this would be my HG foundation, but I might just ditch all other foundations and only buy this every 3 months… (That’s because you don’t need a lot of product, a huge plus with such an expensive one!). So yeah, will buy again!

Review: YSL Yves Saint Laurent Crème de Blush No 9

This is from my last Douglas Haul, I’ve been craving to have a blush like this for a long time! And though for 40 € it is expensive I wanted to try it out! The YSL Crème de Blushcomes in 9 shades, I first wanted to get No 7, a typical cold and mauve-ish pink. This is the color I usually get and I already have way to many blushes like that. But this time I changed my mind and ordered No 9 Baby Doll!
No 9 Baby Doll is a very Barbie-, Bubble Gum-like, fresh and preppy pink shade! I usually never have blushes like that but I’ve seen reviews and decided I should try something new. I am extremely happy with this blush I have to say, even though there are only about 5 g it is really worth the price. It is a mousse/ cream - kind of blush and literally melts on your skin into a soft, slightly dewy finish! Here’s a swatch:

This after just brushing over the blush lightly with my finger. The opacity is very much build-able but still very light in wearability! Here's a pic of me wearing the blush:

I like a slightly “over-blushed” look sometimes, but this either way is really pretty! I tried both methods, putting it on before I set my make-up with powder and after, both is the same, easy breezy! Which is another great thing because what I experienced with other crème blushes is that they sometimes are difficult to apply in both stages because they wipe away my foundation or powder beneath! This blush isn’t like that. I probably won’t buy such an expensive blush for a long time, especially since I hope it will last a little bit longer despite its size.

J.S.Douglas Söhne Powder Spray

Some things that I buy are just pretty and fun and have no other purpose. This is one of them, the J.S.Douglas Söhne Vitamine & Shea Oil Powder Spray. I bought it for 10 € and plan on filling the flacon with perfume once it’s empty!
I have no idea how this thing you have to squeeze there is called but it’s so cute and like a real old-school perfume! Inside is gold-glittery powder that is even scented lightly and with vitamines and shea oil. I think i could use this on my face for a big flashy event because it is way too sparkly for day-time occasions! Here is how it looks sprayed on my arm (it’s kinda difficult to capture with a camera but it honestly glitters A LOT):
This is a very luxurious product to me, without being too expensive! And very girly, too! I bet this will look great on my drawer….
