Barry M Lip Stick & Gloss

Remember my Sleek & Barry M Haul? Well now I feel like I tried out the Barry M lip products enough to write a quick review! I bought the Barry M Lip Paint Nr. 101 Marshmallow and the Lipgloss Nr.12 Strawberry Milkshake, both about 5 €!

The packaging is precious in my eyes, I love pastel pink and black! Now the Lip Stick is very light but not only nude but also light pink at the same time, which kinda surprised me because I expected it more nude-beige!
The colors actually look alike in my eyes, it’s as if the lip gloss is just the same color in gloss form. As you can see both are very pale shades and as I expected they are very difficult with my lips. I don’t even have a good pic of me wearing those solo because it didn’t work at all, the lip stick just looks like white-pink flakes on my lips, just as the gloss, only that the gloss is more watery… So they are just sitting around in flakes on my lips because it is honestly impossible to apply it for me evenly. Maybe because the shade is so light, maybe even the texture, but I felt kinda disappointed. In the end I just combined both, first applying the gloss and then the lip stick over it. That’s the result:
Well it looks nice on the pic in my opinion, my problem is, it doesn’t stay this way. The moment I do ANYTHING like speaking, eating, drinking, it’s gone, no wait, it’s smeared in pink flakes all over my lips. Too bad, both looked promising but I won’t buy it again!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

After having reviewed the Clinique Chubby Stick and the Isadora Gloss Stick here and here, it is finally time to review my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain! I bought 2 shades,Precious and Sweetheart! They cost me about 6 € each! A lot cheaper than the other two alternatives.
Both swatches reveal that the Balm Stick is a lot sheerer than I expected! I thought that because of the combination of stain & balm it would be stronger in its color. Anyway first of I already now that I won’t like Sweetheart on me as much, it’s way too pink (I don’t know what I thought when I saw swatches of it haha). But most important is probably how it looks on me:
I love Precious!! It’s nude without looking to fake and creamy like most nude lipsticks. Sweetheart is ok I guess but I really have to be in the mood for a color like this. I have to reapply pretty soon with Precious though because it’s so light and the stain isn’t really strong. Sweetheart on the other hand stays on me for quite a while, especially since the stain itself is really strong, so at least 2 hours without re-application (which is a lot for me).
All in all I have to say that the Revlon Balm Sticks are fun and reasonably priced, I will maybe get more shades!

Sleek & Barry M Haul

I already reviewed the Sleek Make Up Blush here! But I also bought other Sleek and Barry M products on shades of pink online!
I have a Sleek New Skin Revive Tester Kit in light shades, 4 €
Barry M - Lip Paint Nr. 101 Marshmallow, about 5 €
Barry M Lipgloss - Nr.12 Strawberry Milkshake, about 5 €
Barry M Mascara in Electric Purple, 5 €
The Sleek Make Up Blush in Rose Gold, 5 €
Sleek Dip EyeLiner in Pink, 5 €
I haven’t tried everything but I can already say that the mascara is good for nothing, you can’t even see the purple color! I made pictures but it looked black. Very dissapointed about that.
The tester kit for the Sleek Foundation revealed the following:
So there are altogether 5 light shades: Linen, Oyster, Oatmeal, White Rose and Shell! I already new that Linen would be too light but I wasn’t sure whether Oatmeal or Oyster suited my skin better, so I got the tester kit! The great thing is that the small tubes can be reused, very cute idea. So you don’t have to use everything all up once you opened the tube!
Linen is pale white with a very slight yellow undertone, Oyster is more pink than I expected and Oatmeal pretty much neutral in it’s undertones and therefor fits my skin best. White Rose is too rosy of course and Shell has too many yellow undertones! I have to say I tried all of them on my face and they all have the ability to blend in with my skin tone BUT Linen has a horrible texture in comparison to the other ones. I’m still not sure whether to get the foundation at all because I already have so many and this one is not particularly good at covering….(currently using Diorskin Nude and Shiseido Maquillage!).

Isadora Gloss Stick

Now I already reviewed the Isadora Gloss Stick before when I compared it to the Clinique Chubby Stick here, but I wanted to try another color (even though there are only 4 shades altogether). Again it was 12 €, this time I picked the color 07 Coral Cocktail.
I love coral shades, they suit everybody! Again the Gloss Stick is just as sheer as the regular Glossy Sticks, which is ok I guess as long as it has moisture and looks good on the lips.
I have to say that I’m a bit disappointed because I hoped this shade wouldn’t turn out so flakey on my lips…maybe my lips are the problem? It does give moisture but not as much as the Cubby Stick. What I find extremely strange is that this coral shade looks really pink on my lips! I looked again after half an hour and it was even more pink…it really has a strange effect on my lips and to be honest I have to reapply after an hour or so. I’d rather buy another Chubby Stick because I’m afraid all Gloss Sticks are this flakey on my lips!

Soap & Glory Lip Plumper VS P2 Lip Plumper

Lip plumper are a tricky subject, there are way too many that sting a lot and don’t increase the lips volume. I had bad experiences, too, but thought I could give it another try and bought 2 Lip Plumpers, one cheap and one expensive, Soap & Glory’s Sexy Motherpucker Plumping Lipgloss (seriously I can’t make out the name on the package, there are hundreds of names), which was about 10 € and P2’s Push Up Your lips Lip Serum which was about 2 €, both are 10 ml.
Ok I know most people like the packaging from Soap & Glory, and I did, too, but after looking at this for some time it’s just annoying. So many words, and even words that don’t exist wth. The P2 design on the other hand is clear and nice, I like the pastel pink with black.
Now to show the effect I originally planned to show a before and after pic but then I realized that there is not much difference with BOTH. The P2 Lip Serum does absolutely nothing, maybe it’s me?? It doesn’t even sting or tickle on my lips! Just leaves a pale white layer on my lips. The Soap & Glory Lip Plumper on the other hand tickles very lightly and it does somehow increase the lips’ volume a bit, I guess? But it’s honestly not that visible. It also has a glossy finish, so that’s kinda nice.
Both are not worth the money I think, even though I will keep using the Soap & Glory one for the minimum volume boost it gives me because it also smells nice haha But I won’t buy any of those 2 again!

Review: P2 Color Star Lip Cream

As you might have already noticed I own high end make up AND drugstore make up, both have advantages and disadvantages, the clear drugstore advantage being that it’svery cheap. Now of course when it comes to trying out new products without reading reviews and generally experimenting I prefer drugstore make up, and that’s how I came to buy this:
The P2 Color Star Lip Cream in 071 Liz Taylor. Yes you read correct Lip CREAM. I thought this sounded interesting so I tried it. never did I imagine it being so messy… Lip Cream is very very opaque compared to Lip Gloss and at the same time just as sticky and messy as Gloss, which makes it actually very dangerous to use, like sticky oil paint or something.
It looks great on the lips as a color, very strong and it is reasonably easy to apply, but after that it’s horrible. Very bad staying power and it just get’s everything red surrounding me, I just have to brush against clothes and there will be a red oily stain…And it's really hard to get off, too. It’s an interesting idea to combine the opacity of lipsticks with the liquid consistence of a lipgloss, but it ultimately fails. Good thing it was only 3€ but disappointing nevertheless.

Review: Clinique Chubby Stick VS Isadora Twist Up Gloss Stick

Clinique’s chubby sticks are being reviewed and praised constantly right now. I wanted to find out if they are really worth the price of 20 € (you can get them cheaper though online). I bought the shade 02 whole lotta honey, which is again a somewhat light brownish and slightly mauve shade. While buying I discovered that Isadora had chubby-sticks-like “Gloss Sticks” and they where 12 €, 8 € cheaper, so I bought 03 Sugar Shock, a light pink shade, as a comparison. Of course the shades are different and therefore more difficult to compare, but I mainly compare their moisturizing andlongevity aspects.
They look basically the same, pencil like with a twistable bottom. The scent (yes this is important to me, lip-products are so close to my nose they have to have an acceptable scent) of the Isadora Gloss Stick is very nice, super sweet almost vanilla! The Chubby Stick on the other hand has a typical lipstick smell, which i don’t particularly love. Here is a swatch of both:
Both are quite sheer in opacity, which i like because I prefer balm-like lipsticks or even tinted lipbalms! The color of the Gloss Stick is super cute pink. The Chubby Stick is as I said a brownish shade! Here are the most important pics, actually wearing them, but be warned, because of the sheerness of both the difference is not too big:
I like the shade of the Clinique Cubby Stick on me more than the Isadora one, it doesn’t look as flaky but the Isadora color is more fun. In terms of longevity both are the same, I have to reapply within an hour, other reviewers stated they didn’t have to reapply after several hours but I guess I am very different when it comes to that. Both are moisturizing, I might admit that the Chubby Stick is just slightly better.
The bigger problem with Isadora Gloss Sticks is that there are only 4 shades in Germany right now. Chubby Sticks have a larger variety. I found a second alternative for Chubby Sticks though, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stains, they are cheaper than the other both and not as sheer (although Clinique has a more opaque version of the sheer Chubby Sticks, too!). I’ll try those out in 2 shades. I’m pretty sure this will be my only Clinique Chubby Stick, just because there are enough similar alternatives that are cheaper on the market! Otherwise I love the whole concept behind Chubby Sticks!

Review: Maxfactor Lipstick Burnt Caramel

Maxfactor is a brand that I never pay attention to, once bought a horrible concealer and after that nothing more. I stumbled upon this lipstick while shopping and tried it out because the color was named “burnt caramel” (yeah names lure me in…) and I thought it suited me surprisingly well! I’m not that much into lipstick, simply because texture and color of most lipsticks don’t work well on me. This lipstick was about 5 €, very reasonable price!
So usually what is important to me is how long i can wear the lipstick without having to re-apply and texture, which for me means it has to be somehow moisturizing because of my dry lips.
The design of the lipstick is nothing special, can’t expect anything for that price I guess (or maybe Maxfactor is just not very exciting as a brand). Here are my pics of wearing it:
I think the color is a bit difficult to describe, it hase some mauve tones in it, which I usually pick, yet a slight brownish shade to it! This kind of shade probably looks good on everybody! I like that it doesn’t have a matt but rather shiny and moist finish. The longevity is ok with this one, I usually reapply after two or three hours! Maybe I’ll try out the other Maxfactor products, too, cause I am very happy with this buy!

Review: Maybelline Colorsensational Popsticks

And again a review about the Maybelline Colorsensational Popsticks! Last time Iwasn’t very impressed with them, I got the 010 Pink Sugar and while it was cute and pretty it didn’t make much difference on my lips. This time I got the 020 Tropical Pink. It was 10€ so about $13 I guess?? Not totally unreasonable for a maybelline lipstick!
Why did I even get another one? Well look at it. It’s so cool being all see-through and stuff! And I actually thought a lot about buying it but after testing it out for weeks in the shopping centre I realized I should just go ahead and buy it! It’s a pink-orangeish kind of shade and does not go overboard with the orange shade like it would appear from the lipstick itself. I haven’t got pics of the difference on my lips yet, but I still got a swatch.
You can slightly see the pink color but not so much the orange one on the swatch. The glitter on the other hand is not so much visible when applied (probably because there are no real glitter particles). The one downside to this popstick is that it kind of dries the lips very quickly! I expected it to moisturize but it does the exact opposite! Still the whole design is nice, the scent is sweet like a lollipop, it doesn’t wear off that quickly and it has a nice color on the lips!
Will buy again but is not a must have for me! Maybe I will combine it with a chap stick base and then apply it over the base to keep my lips moisturized…
